CHARNIGUP FARM PET POLICY |
![]() |
As owners of a dog ourselves, we appreciate the dilemma of trying to get away for a break when you own a pet. It is not always easy to leave them behind and arrange for family or friends to feed and exercise them. It can, quite literally, be the deciding factor to going away at all!
So, if this scenario reflects your situation, read on – we may have the solution!
A well behaved, obedient dog (one per visitor) that does not bark is welcome with the following conditions. We regret if this sounds a rather prescriptive list. However, it is only after several years of taking pets that we have felt obliged to ‘spell it out’ and, hopefully, avoid misunderstandings!
1. A dog must be on a leash at all times. This is a working farm with animals that become very stressed if chased by dogs. Our gardens and resident birds are part of our attraction. Dogs gambolling over the flowerbeds, lifting their legs on our plants and scaring our birds are not welcome.
2. Arrange for your pet to sleep in your vehicle or on the verandah. Dogs are not permitted in the house.
3. Provide your own feeding bowls – please do not use our crockery.
4. Remember, dogs are not permitted in National Parks – even if left in a vehicle, so if you intend to visit National Parks, it would be best to leave your dog at home or in kennels. We can sometimes arrange for the dog to stay here while you are out, but that is at our discretion, and after we have met your dog.
5. Provide your own ‘poo bags’ and dispose of any droppings promptly.
6. We make no charge for your pet, but a good behaviour bond of $20 is payable up front, and will be refunded on your departure.
